Private Pete Learns To Be A Good Soldier 1944-01-01

"This book was written and published by the non-commissioned officer instructors under the supervision of 1st Lt. Rex E. Ballinger, Unit Operations and Training Officer, STU #1, 1783d SCU, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. This text is the outgrowth of a definite need for tangible text material to be used in the instruction of the sixteen military subjects required for special training under MTP 20-l, dated 1 July 1943. Although the character, Private Pete, may seem to make the work a bit fictional in nature; on further study it can be noted that the entire manual is packed with military information, written in the language of the trainee, who is learning to read and write, whether he be illiterate or non-English speaking."
